How to install Poptin on your WordPress website?

Go to your WordPress admin panel.
Look for Poptin in your WordPress plugin directory. Poptin's plugin is also available on WordPress repository (https://wordpress.org/plugins/poptin/).

Click on "Install Now". The plugin will be installed and then click on "Activate".
If you don't have a Poptin account yet (via poptin.com), enter your email and sign up through the plugin and it will create a new account for you. Then all you need to do is create your poptins 🙂

if you have a Poptin account already and you just want to install your code, follow the next steps:

Click on the "Already have an account" link

Copy your User ID from your Profile page and enter your ID here:

Click on "Connect".
That's it. You're all set! :) You can click on "Go to dashboard " and you'll be redirected to your Poptin account.

Note: If you use WP-Rocket or any other Cache plugin, please delete Cache after the installation. If you still don't see your poptin from Incognito, disable the JS minification

How to show a poptin on specific pages?

To only show a poptin on specific pages, start by going to the Display Rules step and click on "Page targeting".

Then just paste the URLs or subdirectories (like "/blog") of the pages you want to target and turn it ON.

Contains

This rule will show the poptin on pages that contain the word (string) in the URL after the "/".

For example, if you target the string "products", the poptin will show up on every page that includes "products" in the URL like https://www.yourwebsite.com/products/ or https://www.yourwebsite.com/abc/products/

Not contains

This rule will hide the poptin on pages that include a specific word (string) in the URL.

Starts with

This rule will show the poptin on pages that start with a specific string right after the "/"

Ends with

This rule will show the poptin on pages with a URL that ends with a specific string.

Please Note:

If you use "Equals" or "Not equals", make sure you insert the full URL (with the https:// prefix) .

For example: https://www.yourwebsite.com/contact/

This condition is useful when you want to target very specific pages, like the thank-you page.

You can also target specific pages using the "Title tag targeting" option (under Advanced Display Rules )

I don't see the poptin on my website

If you don't see your poptin appearing on your site, don't worry! We're here to help with a list of things you can check that should make it appear.

**Try your poptin in an Incognito or Private window (Ctrl+Shift+N) ** In addition, try it when you have no other Incognito windows or tabs open.
Make sure the code is installed on your site. In the 'Poptins' tab you should see a turquoise dot next to the domain, above the popups table. If you don't, that means your code is not installed properly. (To be absolutely sure, you check in the page source HTML. You can do this by right-clicking and pressing "View Page Source, or with Ctrl+U. Then search (Ctrl+F) for "popt.in". You can also see if it runs in the Console by clicking F12-> Console)

Also, make sure the right UserID is used. If you have more than 1 account, it is possible you have a different code installed, which you can identify by the UserID at the end of the installation script.

For WIX/Weebly sites: if you cannot see the popt.in code on your site, simply remove the Poptin app from Settings > My Apps and then reinstall it. Clearing your cache is also required. You can also install it manually: Wix | [Weebly](https://help.poptin.com/article/show

With our Wix app: The easiest way to install Poptin on your Wix website is by installing the Poptin app: https://www.wix.com/app-market/

**Note: ** if you want the leads your Poptin leads to be automatically added as Contacts to your Wix account, you will have to make sure your Poptin account's email is the same as your Wix account (admin) email.

Manually install Poptin: If you want, you can always install it manually through the Wix dashboard, in the Head. (you can find it in your Wix editor > Settings > Choose any category > Settings tab

Selecting a template.
Designing your poptin.
Choosing the display rules.

On the Display Rules page, you'll be able to choose the Exit-Intent trigger that will show up the poptin whenever a visitor tries to leave your site.

How Display Frequency Works?

You can show your poptin to New/Return visitors or to both (Everyone).

New visitor - a user that didn't visit your site for the last 48 hours.

Return visitor - a user that has visited your site in the last 48 hours.

You can choose the display frequency of your poptin:

Once a day - show your poptin to unique visitors only once per day (every 24 hours). This is the default setting when the toggle is OFF.

Every visit - show your poptin to unique visitors every time they enter your website. It's also counted when the visitor opens the website in a new tab. Note: refreshing the page does not count as a new visit.

Every session - show your poptin to unique visitors once during a 30-minute session (same as the Google Analytics definition).

Once every few days - show your poptin to unique visitors for every number of days you decide.

Once every few visits - show your poptin to unique visitors for every number of visits you decide.

All pages all the time - show your poptin to unique visitors on all the pages every time a new page is loaded. If you want to keep showing the poptin to visitors who clicked on the X, tick the checkbox on the bottom of the section.
