Traffic Source Targeting - How it works?
With Traffic Source Targeting you will be able to show a Poptin to specific visitors based on the source they are redirected from.
For example, you can show a poptin to visitors visiting your website only by search from Search Engines.
To only show a Poptin to visitors from a specific source, start by going to the Display Rules step and click on "Traffic Source" (under advanced Display Rules)
Traffic Source Targeting comes with 5 different options meaning you can configure it accordingly to target visitors from every source.
1. Direct Visit
Show the Poptin to visitors who arrived to your website from direct traffic. Such as directly opening your website by entering your website address or opening your website from bookmarks.
2. Social Networks
Show the Poptin to visitors who arrived to your website from social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, Delicious, Tumblr, Dribbble, StumbleUpon, Flickr, Plaxo, Digg and more.
3. Search Engines
Show the Poptin to visitors who arrived to your website from search engines including Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Yandex, AOL, Ask, Wow, WebCrawler, Baidu and more.
4. Google Ads
Show the Poptin to visitors who arrived to your website from your Google PPC Campaigns/Ads. Poptin detects if the visitor landed on your website with the GCLID parameter.
5. Specific URL
You can also select a URL of your choice to target it from a specific source such as if you want to show Poptin to only visitors visiting from Facebook.com
Example Use Cases: If you are running a discount promotion for only customers who find you on Google then you can target them using Traffic Source and show them the Promotional Popup.
Note: You can use different parameters with specific URL such as contains and not contains.
If you want to target visitors that already landed on your site with UTM parameters, we'd recommend checking our Page Targeting option. Check out our guide by clicking here .
