Getting started with the Poptin API

The Poptin API lets you manage your poptins, contacts, conversions, and email campaigns from your own apps, backend, or internal tools. It's available on all plans.

Not a developer? If you just want to connect Poptin to another app, check our integrations, including Zapier and Make, which don't need any code.

Generate your API key

  1. Go to My Account → API & Connections (or open app.popt.in/settings/api).
  2. Click Generate API Key.
  3. Select the subaccount the key is for and give it a name.
  4. Copy your key, which starts with pk_live_.

The key is shown only once. If you lose it, delete it and generate a new one.

Manage your keys

Your keys are listed under each subaccount, with the key name and when it was last used. A key only works for the subaccount it was created for.

You can also click on the three dots next to the API and regenerate the KEY wihtout having to delete it first.

Keep your key safe

  • Treat it like a password, and never paste it into client-side code or share it publicly.
  • Use a separate key for each integration.
  • Delete any key you no longer use or think may be exposed.

Make your first call

Send your key as a bearer token in the Authorization header. A safe first request is listing your poptins. The API Reference also has a Try It explorer.

Note that it runs against your live account, so start with read-only operations.
