How to send a Confirmation of Consent email
Depending on how much time you’ve been gathering your audience, it is possible that your lists contain contacts that have not engaged with your content for a long time, or contacts that haven’t received anything from you in a long time (Any contact that has not been addressed in the last 3-6 months can be considered an “old” contact).
Sending to old contacts that haven’t been active for a while can carry some risks to your sending reputation. If the contact does not recognize the mail content received, they might mark the messages as spam, or send an abuse report to their mailbox provider or ISP about receiving spam from you, which will be detrimental to your sending reputation.
To avoid this problem, you should send a confirmation of consent email message before sending your regular mail content to this contact. This is simply a message to remind your contact that they subscribed to one of your mailing lists in the past, and confirm if your contact still wishes to receive the mail, or if they wish to leave the list in a healthy manner, by getting them to Unsubscribe instead of marking the message as spam.
