How to Add and Verify a Sending Domain in Poptin

Before sending email campaigns, you need to verify your sending domain. This ensures your emails are delivered reliably and helps protect your sender reputation.

In this guide, you'll learn how to add and verify a sending domain in Poptin.

  1. Click on your profile icon on the top right corner of your Poptin dashboard and click on Email Configuration.

  1. Navigate to the Sending Domains tab and click on New Sending Domain.

  1. In the modal, enter your Domain Name and click Save.

For example, if you're sending emails from no-reply@mydomain.com, you would enter mydomain.com here.

  1. Your domain will now appear in the Sending Domains list with a pending status. Click the dropdown arrow next to your domain to expand and view the required DNS records.

  1. Add the DNS records shown to your DNS provider. The records include CNAME records for DKIM verification and an SPF record. For the DMARC record, click Generate first to create the value before adding it, , and a TXT (Claim) record. For the TXT (Claim) record, the host name will be _poptinemail-claim.yourdomain.com and the value will be a unique verification token tied to your account.

Note: DNS changes may take up to 48 hours to reflect. For faster propagation, keep your TTL at 1 minute or the lowest possible setting.

  1. Once you've added all the records in your DNS provider, come back to Poptin and click Verify to complete the verification.

Once all five checks pass Domain verification, DKIM verification, SPF verification, Account Verification and DMARC verification and your sending domain is ready to use.

TXT Claim Record

The TXT claim record confirms that the domain belongs to your specific poptin account. This ensures the same domain cannot be verified under a different account without the correct record in place.

Add a TXT record with the host _poptinemail-claim.yourdomain.com and your unique verification token as the value (found in the DNS records panel). You can add it as a standalone record, append it to an existing TXT record. Make sure to replace yourdomain.com with your domain name.

Have more than 1 subaccount? - Each sub account has its own token, so if you want to use the same sending domain across multiple sub-accounts, you will need to add a separate token for each one. You can add multiple tokens within the same TXT record or as individual TXT records.
