How to create Spin The Wheel gamified popup?

In this article, you'll learn how to create your Spin The Wheel gamified popup.

Log in to your Poptin dashboard and click on the + New Poptin button.

Select Popup from the four available options.

Select Gamified Popups and click on Preview and Edit button on the Spin The Wheel popup template. Give your popup a name and type in your domain where you want to show the popup when Prompted.

Gamified popups have a total of 4 screens.

Play Screen
Post Play Screen
Winning Screen
Losing Screen

Play Screen: Spin the wheel allows you to give your customers up to 12 prize options. All the prizes have 6 options that can be customized and an option to delete.

1. Chances and Weight - The weight option lets you select which prizes have increased chances of winning and controls the probability of winning or losing that prize. As you increase the weight the chances of that particular prize increase.
(If you want more people to win free shipping instead of a 25% discount then you should give 2 to free shipping so that more people can win Free Shipping and fewer people can win 25% Discount). Chances determine the chances of winning a specific prize with 100% being the most chances and 0% being no chances of winning the prize.

2. Prize Label - Give your prize/slice a nice creative name such as Free Shipping & 25% Discount.

3. Code - Coupon code that your customers can use to redeem the prize.

4. Losing Option - If you want to give an option in Spin the wheel where the customer wins no prize. Such as Sorry or Better Luck Next Time.

5. Redirect - If you wish to redirect the user upon winning the prize such as your cart or checkout page you can add the URL in Redirect To. You can also choose to close the screen automatically after X number of seconds.

6. Add More - Add more prizes to the wheel. Max prizes 12.

7. Equal Chances - Play fair and give all prizes an equal chance.

8. Trash Icon - Delete a specific prize slice.

To change the background colors of Slices in your spin the wheel, simply navigate to Background Design under General Settings and select either Slice A or Slice B and select your desired color for each.

Popup background can be kept the same by simply marking the checkbox Keep Same Background on All Screens . Simply uncheck it to use different backgrounds on all or any of 4 screens.

Post-Play Screen: This screen will always appear before the Winning Screen. This screen helps you collect leads (email, name, etc) before showing the prize. Post-Play Screen does not appear if the user/visitor has lost the prize.

You can add your input fields here which the visitor needs to fill out in order to find the coupon code.

Note: If you disable the Post Play Screen, you can still collect info by adding fields on the Play Screen

You can use the merge tag {{prize_label}} to dynamically call the prize won in the Text or Button.

Disable Post Play Screen : You can also disable the Post Play screen and get the visitor to jump directly on Winning or Losing screen depending on whether they win or lose. You can disable it if you don't want to collect any information from your visitors like Name, email, etc on the Post Play Screen. The option to disable Post Play screen is on the left menu on the Design settings of the popup:

Enable Post Play Screen : When the Post Play Screen is enabled, you can collect details from visitors like Email, Name, phone number, etc. on the Main screen itself. Once the visitor enter the required details asked, the wheel will spin automatically. This is an alternate way to play the spin the wheel popup:

Winning Screen: Winning Screen comes after Post-Play Screen and shows the coupon code to the customer.

You can use the merge tag {{prize_label}} to dynamically call the prize won in the Text or Button.

Losing Screen: If your visitors spin the wheel land on a losing option they will be redirected to the Losing Screen.

As the gamified popups come with Hidden Fields, you will be able to receive the Prize Label and Prize Code details in the Poptin's Activity within the Lead Details in the contact section on your Poptin account like this.

You can also download the Prize code and Prize label data when you export your leads from Audience > Leads > Contacts:

You can also add Prize Label and Prize Code in the email content of the autoresponder email by adding the Prize code and Prize Label merge tags in the email body like this:

The Prize code and Prize label details will also come through on the Lead Notification emails like this:

.Important: Coupon codes (prizes) are saved on client-side, stored directly in your visitors' browsers. Tech-savvy or malicious users might find ways to access the codes resulting in unauthorized use. Despite this, gamified popups are great for lead generation in return for small rewards. Keep in mind that these popups are best suited for offering modest and affordable incentives that will be beneficial for you as well as for your potential customers.
