# How to create a segment to filter your contacts?

Creating a segment to filter your contacts allows you to target specific groups more effectively, ensuring that your communications are relevant and personalized. Here's how to set up a contact segment step-by-step.

1. Navigate to **Segments** within the Poptin dashboard and click on **Create New Segment**.

2. Once redirected to contact section, you can start applying filters. In this case we've applied two filters.

Contacts who have converted on the popup "Test Poptin Elipse" and the country equals "United States". 

Once the filters are set, you will see all the matching contacts with the filters you've set.

3. Click on **Save Segment** and in the segment modal, select to create a new segment or overwrite an existing segment.

4. Enter **Segment Name** if you are creating a new segment and click **Save** to save the segment.

Once save you can navigate to **Segments** in Poptin Dashboard and see your newly created segment.
